Happy Spring! I’m thinking positive…it WILL come!
FYI – you probably see the Finley Book Club reading list posted on face book and on bulletin boards around town. If you see a book on that list that you think sounds interesting, most likely a book club reader will donate their book after it’s been discussed. So, come on in and take a look. We probably have it.
New hard cover, large print books are:
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks – You’ll find yourself drawn into the twists and turns. This is a mind-bending novel about marriage and betrayal. A jealous wife obsessed with her replacement? Maybe not. Read to the end!
Dark in Death by JD Robb – Two murders are based on books. The killer finds inspiration in someone else’s imagination. Lt. Eve Dallas tries to identify and warn potential new victims.
Two Nights by Kathy Reichs – A girl has gone missing after a bomb explosion. Is she dead? Doesn’t she want to be found? Did someone take her? “Sunnie” has been asked to find her and in doing so, must face her own demons.
Night Moves by Jonathan Kellerman – Alex Delaware fans have been waiting for another book. Here is number 33.
The Mitford Murders by Jessica Fellowes – A golden age-style mystery based on a real unsolved murder.
The Unfinished Gift by Dan Walsh – 7 year old Patrick’s mom just died in a car accident and his dad is flying a bomber over Germany in WWII. Patrick must stay with his grandfather, who he’s never met, until his dad can be found. Keep your tissues handy.
Mischief Bay series by Susan Mallery – Through romance, heartbreak, laughter and tears, three very different women will discover that friends can become family and that life is richer with sisters at your side. The 3 books in the series are: The Girls of Mischief Bay, A Million Little Things and The Friends We Keep. We have all 3 books ready for you!
The following books are either hard cover regular print or paperback:
A Christmas Train by David Baldacci – For everyone who loves trains and holidays. Tom Langdon, a fluff journalist, plans to pass the boring time on a train trip by writing an article about traveling cross country by train. (He’s been banned from flying.) He runs into his old girlfriend. There are small levels of suspense and some holiday romance in this book.
Two from the Heart by James Patterson – 2 stories in this one book. 1 – After losing everything, Anne goes on the road to ask friends and family “What’s Your Best Story?” 2 – Tyler has all the money in the world but has no life. He hires a struggling novelist to write one for him.
Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult – If you’ve read Jodi Picoult you know her books deal with very thought provoking topics. This book deals with an ugly divorce witnessed by 7 year old Faith who starts to hear divine voices, starts reciting biblical passages and develops stigmata, even though she has absolutely no religious background.
Deceptions by Judith Michael – Identical twins Stephanie, married with 2 children, and Sabrina, divorced, are wondering if their lives could be better so they decide to play the game they played as children – trading identities, just for a week. An accident forces them to keep up their deception. (A Tangled Web is the sequel to this book.)
The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens – College student Joe’s assignment for his English class is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography. He heads to a nursing home to find a subject. He finds a dying Vietnam veteran convicted of murder. As he learns his story, he sets out on a mission to tell the truth.
Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard – This is a fictional story about a real place. Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1944, a town that didn’t exist until then. It was a city of nearly 450 buildings with most people working on a project, not knowing what the project was. Turns out, they were making uranium/plutonium for the atomic bomb. This is a fascinating novel about a little-known piece of WWII history.
Plainsong and Eventide – two books by Kent Haruf – Stories with heart set in Holt, Colorado. An inside look at small town life. People caring for each other and unlikely friends brought together.
If you’re a Brian Freeman fan, we have Cold Nowhere and Marathon.
