~~Starr Braaten

This is the last reminder of our open house coming up on Thursday, June 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. We will have free and cheap books for you as well as some goodies. Stop by.

We are so thankful when you think of your library through donations. Any donation we receive goes toward purchasing hard cover, large print books for you to enjoy. We have recently received donations in honor of Edith Lundstrom and also Howie and Bobbie Underwood. Recent memorials are for Carol Lovejoy, Corlyn Bayman, Dick Simpson, JoAnn Kilgore, Sebastian Bernhardt and Gloria Wetzstein. Thank you for thinking of the library.

We are looking for some more volunteer librarians. You would work once every month or six weeks on a Thursday evening or Friday afternoon. There will be a training class to make you more comfortable with what we do. If this is something you’d like to do, leave your name with a librarian during regular hours or contact us on facebook or on our website, fpl.org. We’ll get back to you.

The flowers in front of the library were given and planted by the Finley Sharon FFA. Thank you!!!

A few reviews…
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford – A story of 1942 WWII. Japanese are being confined to internment camps. This book tells the story of two young people, one Japanese and one Chinese, their traditions, conflicts and prejudices.   PB

Down River by Karen Harper – After falling into an Alaska white-rapids river, Lisa’s former lover tries to rescue her. The live and struggle to survive in the wilderness . After they return to civilization, she tries to figure out who’s trying to kill her. The description of the wilderness and the Alaskan life are vivid. HC/LP

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes – Read this book now! The movie comes out June 3. See if the book is better than the movie (it usually is)! It’s about 2 people who would likely have never met if not for Will’s accident that left him a quadriplegic. Lou, who is hired to be his caregiver, knows nothing about caregiving. This book explores his life changes, her life and how he changes it. Everyone should read this book! Book clubs will have very good discussions because everyone will have differing views on how the book ends.
