Happy New Year!

We’ve bought/received lots of new books and I’ll tell you about some of them.

Power Empire by Tom Clancy – President Jack Ryan is dealing with a confrontation with China. Jack Jr. is working to destroy a child sex slavery operation and Jack Jr’s boss is searching for a 13 year old who was trafficked. The three separate plot lines merge by the end of the book.

Typhoon Fury by Clive Cussler
– Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon battle a team of super soldiers and the storm of the century.

Year One by Nora Roberts – A sickness came on New Year’s Eve. It came hard and fast and killed over half of the world’s population. Everything has changed. What would you do to feed your family? Survivors and savages are migrating west for some reason. This is the end…the beginning comes with the next book!

Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner
– Two 8 year old children meet one night in an emergency room waiting room. Over the next three decades they will meet again and again. This is a novel about the passage of time, the way people change and change each other and how the measure of a life is who you love.

The River at Night by Erica Ferencik – One of the best thrillers of the year. The story charts the journey of 4 girlfriends as they fight to survive the aftermath of a white water rafting trip.

A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins – 25 years ago, a man, disillusioned with 1970’s society, set out on a walk across America, searching for himself and his country. He will inspire you to get out, hit the road and explore.

New Hard cover/large print books are:

Hard Core Twenty-four by Janet Evanovich – (Stephanie Plum series #24) Evanovich shares no plot details for her new books. We do know this book includes bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, crazy Grandma Mazur and a hooker-turned-bounty hunter Lula.

Past Perfect by Danielle Steel – The story of two families living a hundred years apart who came together in a startling moment. Bewitching!

Every Breath You Take by Mary Higgens Clark – Laurie is the producer of the TV show “Under Suspicion” – a show that examines cold cases. She is investigating the murder of a 68 year old socialite – pushed from the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck – Tenley is an author with a best-selling book. She’s writing a second book but can she repeat her first success? She’s working at the antique desk used by another author – Birdie. Birdie’s dreams are controlled by her manipulative mother. This book is an encouragement and inspiration in making your own path in life.

In This Moment by Karen Kingsbury – A High School principal starts a Bible study to improve the lives of his struggling students only to become the national focus of a controversial lawsuit.

The Hideaway by Lauren Denton – Sara owns a successful antique shop in New Orleans. Her grandmother dies and leaves Sara her ramshackle bed and breakfast in Alabama. She is instructed to renovate it – no small task since her grandmother’s friends, a motley crew of Senior citizens, still live there. She discovers a box in the attic, clues to a life she never knew about her grandmother. This book will please inspirational, contemporary and historical fans alike.

Some new (to us) paperback books are:

Under Fire by Tom Clancy (Jack Ryan Jr. series #1) – Jack Ryan Jr. meets his oldest friend, Seth, in Tehran. Seth slips Jack a perplexing message then disappears. Now comes intrigue, lie and betrayal where no one is who they seem to be…even Seth.

Depraved Heart by Patricia Cornwell (Kay Scarpetta series #23) – This novel includes the mysterious death of a Hollywood mogul’s daughter, aircraft wreckage on the bottom of the sea in the Bermuda Triangle, a grisly gift left in the back of a crime scene truck and videos from the past that threaten to destroy Scarpetta’s world and everyone she loves.

The Lion in Glory by Heather Graham – Full of historical detail and bloody battles, it pits a resourceful English woman against an overbearing Scottish warrior.

Nemesis by Catherine Coulter – Featuring the daring duo of Sherlock and Savich. Sherlock foils a terrorist attack at JFK airport. Another plot unfolds simultaneously with a bomb at St. Patrick’s cathedral. Suspenseful and entertaining.

The End Game by Catherine Coulter – Non-stop action with enough realism to keep you thinking and scare the daylights out of you at the same time.

More paperbacks are:

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
