We have purchased several new hard cover/large print books recently and several of them are on the New York Times best seller list, so, you can see, we are trying to keep up with the newly released books.

The Right Time by Danielle Steel – Alexander Winslow, abandoned by her mother, finds comfort in writing…writing mysteries and complex crime stories. At age 14, after her father’s death, she’s taken in by a convent where she completes a novel. Her father had always told her that men only read thrillers written by men so she writes under the name Alexander Green. Here starts her double life that isolates her and revealing her identity could cost her dearly.

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber – Shay came from an abusive home. She’s found a good job but risks all to help her troubled brother get out from under a dangerous drug lord and ends up in prison. Dejected and alone, she winds up in a church where her life could change.

Exposed by Lisa Scottoline – (Rosato and DiNunzio series #5) Mary DeNunzio wants to represent her friend who was wrongly fired by his company but her partner, Bennie Rosato, represents the parent company. The conflict that ensues threatens to rip the law firm apart and turns friend against friend.

The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter – A blend of cold-case thriller and psychological suspense. A terrifying attack in a small town leaves a mother dead, father devastated, one sister traumatized and the other sister forced to pick up and go on with her life, becoming a lawyer. But violence returns to her home town, unleashing terrible memories she’s tried to suppress.

Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena – Karen and Tom are a happy couple. Tom comes home from work one day to find Karen missing. Police come, take Tom to the hospital where Karen was taken after a car accident that she has no memory of. She returns home with Tom and realizes something’s not quite right. Someone’s been there.

Secrets of the Tulip Sisters by Susan Mallery - The story of two sisters carrying a torch for two brothers. 10 years after leaving town, the brothers return. Was one the handsome prince she remembers? A story of romance, forgiveness and the ties that bind.

More new books but not large print are:
The Lying Game by Ruth Ware (author of The Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark Dark Wood) – Kate, Thea, Isa and Fatima are 15 year-olds in a boarding school in England. They became inseparable and were notorious for playing the lying game. Kate’s father, a teacher at the school, dies. Suicide? Murder? The lies have caught up to them in their adult lives. A good, suspenseful read!

Paradise Valley by C.J. Box – Investigator Cassie Dewell has set a trap in Bakken County, ND to catch the “Lizard King”, a serial killer who preys on runaways and prostitutes. The plan goes terribly wrong and she loses her job. At the same time, Kyle, who she’s taken under her wing, disappears. With nothing else to do, she, alone, searches for Kyle and the Lizard King.

Siberian Light by Robin White – A savage triple murder in Siberia. Anna, an American ecologist who has come to Siberia to study and save the great Siberian tiger, is the prime suspect. Gregori, who believes in Anna’s innocence, must, together with her, prove it. A horror, long thought dead, reemerges, starting a wild, violent chase across the snow forest.

Sulfur Springs by William Kent Krueger (Cork O’Connor series #16) – Cork O’Connor helps to search for his stepson in a totally unfamiliar territory – the Arizona desert. Bring on the traffickers of drugs and people.

The Bear by Claire Cameron – Mom, Dad, 5 year old and almost 3 year old go on a canoe trip to a very remote area. Mom and Dad are attacked by a bear and a wounded Mom gets the kids in a canoe and away. They end up lost and alone in the woods. The story is told in the voice of the 5 year old.

Barely Legal by Stuart Woods (Herbie Fisher Series #1) – A protégé of Stone Barrington, Herbie Fisher, a New York lawyer, gets called to defend the son of a city councilman for selling drugs.

All the Single Ladies by Dorothy Benton Frank – Three friends discover that being single doesn’t have to mean being alone.

The Italian Wife by Ann Hood – The story of a woman’s life in Italy and America.

The Charm Bracelet by Viola Shipman – Three generations reconnect by the stories of each charm on an heirloom charm bracelet.

FYI – We have a Wait List in the library. If you want to read a book that is already checked out, you can put your name on the list and be the next in line to read it. It’s especially handy if you’re reading a series and want the next book in the series, we’ll save it for you. Also, if the book is on the wait list, it can only be checked out for 2 weeks and not renewed. The reason for this is, then, you can get your book sooner! Right now, the Cork O’Connor series by William Kent Krueger is being read by lots of people. We have his latest book, just released August 22, so, get your name on the list!
